Viet Nam is a interesting little country with lush greens and happy people you usually see in brochures, except if you live in the commercial capital of Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh city.
I don’t know if anyone is going to read this but if you do, thank you and good luck, I’m a horrible writer, this is probably be more like a documentary in my own tone of my experience of growing up in Vietnam.
District 2 (part 1)?
I Nguyễn Phùng Anh was born in my grandparents home on the 10th of May, 1998 in district 2 of Ho Chi Minh city. Yes you read it right, I was born in my grandparents’ house with the help of a local doctor, my whole family was pretty poor back then so we can’t really afford actually hospital. My dad had to farm double time starting then and my mum start working at my aunt’s rice shop leaving me at home with my grandparents. Raising one kid was hard enough then came my little sister Nguyễn Phùng Lan, she was born 3 years after me in an actual hospital (gj mum and dad) when my family’s financial status was a bit more stable. But with the appearance of a second kid, the family’s financial was falling apart and we were heading to the streets. Until my mum randomly decides to start a Pho shop (Vietnamese flat rice noodle in chicken or beef broth).
